Mission Statement for The Center for Free Inquiry at Hanover College

The Center for Free Inquiry, an interdisciplinary institute of Hanover College, is dedicated to exploring fundamental and enduring issues through the lens of the liberal arts. The Center seeks to develop and disseminate the kind of interdisciplinary inquiry, discussion, debate, and wisdom that is at the heart of the liberal arts education.

Toward those ends, CFI: addresses itself to a broad public, and seeks to advance knowledge and shape debate through lectures, symposia, and publications; provides the opportunity for faculty, staff, students, and members of the greater College community to interact with individuals who are recognized nationally as intellectual, civic, and cultural leaders; promotes civic engagement among faculty, staff, students, and members of the greater College community.
