Matt Vosmeier came to Hanover College in the fall of 1999. He received a B.A. in history from Indiana University at Fort Wayne, an A.M. in history from Brown University, and his Ph.D. from Indiana University in Bloomington. After participating in the 2001 Crowe Academy on the Lewis and Clark expedition, Prof. Vosmeier joined the Center for Free Inquiry as Associate Director and Program Director of Crowe Academy.

Dr. Vosmeier is a member of the History Department, where he teaches early American history, including courses on the American Midwest and Abraham Lincoln. While on the staff of the Lincoln Museum in Fort Wayne from 1990 to 1993, he wrote articles for Lincoln Lore, and from 1994 to 1998, he was an editorial assistant at the American Historical Review. His research interests are in antebellum American politics and culture, focusing on the early years of the Whig party.
